Casual Disability Support Worker Carer

PURPOSE of THE ROLE The position of Support Worker is responsible for delivering participant-centred supports within the community, a Supported Independent Living (SIL) or residential environment for people with disability. The role provides day-to-day support, ensuring delivery is safe, consistent and in line with participant goals, NDIS Practice Standards, and organisational policies.

This position contributes to embedding lived experience, cultural responsiveness, and participant voice into service delivery. Reporting to the Operation Coordinator ensuring quality support provision is in the forefront of Joyful Souls Support disability services.

Employment Type: Casual (up to 38 hours per week to start)

Casual Salary Range: $45.28 per hour. Classification: SCHADS Award Level 2.1

Location: Alice Springs, Northern Territory.

Reports to: Senior Support Worker/s – House Lead and Operations Coordinator

SELECTION CRITERIA

1.



Experience within a NDIS-registered provider
2. Qualification or experience in Disability, Community Services, Individual Support, Recreation, developmental education, welfare work or Aboriginal health or related field
3. Experience supporting participants with complex behaviours or psychosocial disability
4. Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice
5. Lived experience of disability, or demonstrated experience working closely with people with disability, families, or carers
6. Experience supporting people with disability, mental health, or complex support needs
7. Sound understanding of participant-centered practice, safeguarding, and duty of care
8. Sound team collaboration and communication skills (verbal, reading, writing, computer skills).
9. Have an ability to work a variety of shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends)

10 Must hold a valid NT driver's licence and have working rights in Australia
1. Must have (or be willing to obtain) a valid NDIS Worker Screening Check, NT Working with Children Check (Ochre Card), and a recent police check.
