About the role
SaS Support Solutions Shepparton is a locally run provider who provides Supported Independent Living to NDIS participants in the local community. SaS Supports is currently looking for the right fit of Disability Support Workers to help boost our team of dedicated workers. Persons working within this role are responsible for using the strategies determined in the participant's support plan.
All practices are participant-focused and promote their choices, rights and decisions. Due to the variable nature of participants, this role requires the worker to promote participants' voices, choices and report any areas of concern. The participant is at the centre of all practices.
Shifts rostered to cover a 24/7 Care.
Key responsibilities
- Always check your understanding of the participant's required tasks before commencing your work
- Implement personal hygiene and infection control procedures
- Be alert if you notice the participant is distressed or apathetic
- Adjust your tasks to meet participant's needs, preferences and priorities
- Record all work as per the organisation's requirements
- Assist people to perform key daily activities
- Facilitate daily personal hygiene and dressing tasks
- Perform home-based tasks such as food preparation and housework
- Undertake tasks outside the home such as shopping
- Ensure varied programs of social activities
About you
- Current NDIS Worker Screening and WWCC
- First Aid Certificate
- Driver's License
- Reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle
- Worker Orientation Module: Quality, safety and you
- Infection Control Training
- Preferred minimum six months relevant experience
- Experience supporting people with disability
- Verbal and written communication skills
