Production Manager | On-Site | $115k - $120k + Super | North Brisbane
The Opportunity:
A well-established and growing manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead its production workshop and drive safe, efficient and high-quality manufacturing outcomes.
This is a hands‑on leadership role suited to an experienced production or manufacturing skilled with exposure to pipe manufacturing, fabrication or engineered products . The successful candidate will balance people leadership, production planning, quality, safety, customer requirements and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate daily production activities across the workshop.
- Manage production schedules, workflow, capacity and potential bottlenecks.
- Oversee manufacturing and fabrication activities, including pipe and engineered products.
- Lead, mentor and develop production staff, identifying skills gaps and training requirements.
- Drive on‑time delivery and production performance across the workshop.
- Maintain high standards of quality and ensure non‑conformances are addressed.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure safe work practices are consistently followed.
- Monitor stock and material requirements and liaise with purchasing to maintain production flow.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and ensure preventative maintenance is completed.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and manufacturing processes.
- Support the implementation of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure customer requirements are understood and delivered.
- Provide production reporting, performance updates and recommendations to management.
- Maintain and develop workshop technical capability, including CAD and technical drawing knowledge where required.
- Provide hands‑on support to production and quality activities when necessary.
- Assist with strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation and performance measurement.
- Ensure compliance with relevant company, environmental, quality and regulatory requirements.
About You
- Proven experience as a Production Manager, Workshop Manager or similar leadership position.
- Experience with pipe manufacturing, fabrication, piping systems or engineered products.
- Strong production planning, scheduling and project management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and develop a production team.
- Experience managing performance, objectives and KPIs.
- Strong understanding of quality management and continuous improvement principles.
- Experience working with ERP or production management systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and understand manufacturing requirements.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent organisation, time management and attention to detail.
- A practical and commercially focused approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Positive, professional and hands‑on leadership style.
- Current and clean driver's licence.
