About the Chance
n
Waste Operators play a vital role in delivering waste collection and waste management services across the Shire. The position is responsible for operating Council's waste collection vehicles and equipment, assisting with the day-to-day management of the Denmark Waste Management and Reuse Facility (DWMRF), and providing a high standard of customer service to residents and visitors.
n
This is a hands-on role suited to a reliable and safety-focused individual who enjoys working outdoors, operating plant and equipment, and contributing to a positive team environment.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Operate Council's rubbish truck and undertake Shire refuse collection services.
n
- Manage day-to-day activities at the DWMRF, including record keeping and licence compliance requirements.
n
- Collect tipping fees and maintain accurate cash handling records.
n
- Load and unload waste collection vehicles and operate refuse compacting equipment.
n
- Operate plant and equipment safely and responsibly.
n
- Undertake manual labour and maintenance activities as required.
n
- Maintain a strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
n
- Provide courteous and professional assistance to residents and customers.
n
- Promote the Shire's positive image and values while undertaking daily duties.
n

About You
n
To be successful in this role, you will have
n
n
- Experience operating trucks or similar transport role.
n
- Current HR or HC Driver's Licence.
n
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
n
- Strong awareness of workplace health and safety practices.
n
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
n
- A reliable, flexible and self-motivated approach to work.
n
- Physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual labour.
n
- Current White Card
n
n
Candidates must be willing to complete a pre‐employment medical (including drug and alcohol screening) and provide a current National Police Clearance.
n
Desirable
n
n
- Experience operating waste trucks
n
- Experience operating front end loaders
n
- Hazardous waste handling (including asbestos) qualifications.
n
- Chemical handling certification.
n
- Current first Aid First Aid certificate
n
