Bring your engineering and project management expertise to the Shire of Capel! As part of our Infrastructure Management directorate, you’ll provide technical support in the assessment, coordination and delivery of engineering and capital works projects, subdivision compliance, contractor management, and extractive industry licensing.
The Shire of Capel is located in the South West, halfway between Bunbury and Busselton. We are nestled between the beach and the forest and are one of the fastest growing coastal Shires in Australia. As an Engineering Technical Officer, you will:
- Provide technical support across civil infrastructure and engineering activities.
- Support the planning, coordination and delivery of allocated civil infrastructure and capital works projects
- Coordinate procurement of consultants, contractors and service providers.
- Provide clear, practical and timely technical information and advice to customers, developers, contractors, consultants, government agencies and internal service areas.
- Liaise with stakeholders, assist with the preparation of Council reports and support asset management activities.

- Base annual salary circa $91,767 per annum dependent on skills, experience and qualifications
- Annual leave loading of 17.5%

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate:
- Behaviour that positively demonstrates the Shire’s HEART of: Honesty, Empathy, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in civil engineering, engineering technology or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in civil engineering, infrastructure,
civil construction or a related technical engineering environment.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, standards, guidelines and relevant legislative requirements.
- Demonstrated experience undertaking technical investigations, assessments and inspections, preparing engineering or project documentation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports and communicate technical requirements to a range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work and contribute effectively across multiple engineering activities or projects.
- Robust knowledge of engineering project management practices for municipal infrastructure such as roads, paths, drainage and landscaping.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering, design, GIS, asset management or corporate systems.
- Current “C” Class WA Driver’s Licence.
Experience in local government engineering environment and knowledge of relevant legislation and industry standards will be highly regarded.
