We are recruiting for a HSE Manager to be based in Melbourne for an EPC contractor specialising in the delivery of utility-scale renewable energy projects across Australia, leading and managing health, safety and environmental requirements across its operations.

This is a FIFO senior, hands-on HSE role responsible for ensuring works are undertaken safely and compliantly, while supporting project teams with practical HSE advice and ensuring regulatory, client and management system requirements are met.

Working closely with senior leadership, project teams and site-based personnel, the HSE Manager will play a key role in maintaining strong safety standards, improving HSE systems and driving a positive safety culture across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage health, safety and environmental requirements across project and operational activities.
- Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, client requirements, legislation and relevant industry standards.
- Review project SWMS, JSEAs, task risk assessments and associated safety documentation on an ongoing basis.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure appropriate preventative measures and controls are implemented.
- Review and update HSE policies and procedures in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Provide practical HSE advice and support to management, project teams and employees.
- Coordinate and deliver HSE training and awareness initiatives across the workforce.
- Record, investigate and report incidents, identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Prepare regular HSE reports,



statistics and performance information for senior management.
- Manage internal and external HSE audit schedules.
- Provide visible HSE leadership across the organisation.
- Manage Workers Compensation and Return-to-Work processes.
- Lead and participate in regular HSE meetings with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Continually identify opportunities to improve HSE systems, processes and overall safety performance.

Required Experience

- Prior experience in an HSE leadership position, ideally within a construction or project delivery environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety legislation, regulations and Codes of Practice.
- Strong understanding of risk management principles, practices and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining health and safety management systems.
- Experience providing HSE advice to managers, employees and project teams.
- Understanding of Workers Compensation and Return-to-Work programs.
- Experience managing or supporting internal and external HSE audits.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to positively influence safety behaviours.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced project setting.
- Competent across Microsoft Office and general computer-based systems.
- Experience with safety management information systems would be advantageous.

Qualifications

- Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety.
