Salary range: $93,872 per annum + 13.5% superannuation.

About the role

Are you passionate about helping communities have a meaningful voice in the decisions that shape their city?

The City of Hobart is seeking a Community Engagement Officer to support the delivery of high-quality engagement activities across a diverse range of projects and initiatives. Working within the Communications, Engagement and Marketing Group, you will help foster a culture of best-practice community engagement across the organisation, guided by International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) principles.

In this role, you will:

- Support community and stakeholder engagement activities for a broad range of City projects and initiatives.
- Build positive relationships with community members, stakeholders and internal project teams.
- Develop engagement plans, stakeholder communications, evaluatiaon reports and other high-quality written materials.
- Plan and deliver inclusive engagement activities that encourage participation from diverse communities.
- Analyse engagement data and communicate insights that support decision-making.
- Help maintain and enhance content on the City's online engagement platform, Your Say Hobart.

About you

You are an enthusiastic and organised engagement professional who is committed to inclusive community participation and building strong stakeholder relationships.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

- Experience in community engagement, stakeholder engagement and/or project management.
- Knowledge of contemporary engagement methods and practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences.
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to engage respectfully with diverse communities.
- Sound organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Political awareness and an understanding of working within a complex stakeholder environment.
- A commitment to the City of Hobart's values and behavioural standards.

A qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Community Development, Social Sciences or a related discipline, together with relevant experience, will be highly regarded. An IAP2 Certificate in Engagement is desirable.
