About the role

We are seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our team on a casual basis. Works near Plympton SA and surrounding area , this role offers the flexibility of casual work whilst providing the opportunity to work on diverse construction projects. As an Excavator Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating excavation equipment on construction sites, playing a crucial role in site preparation, earthmoving, and general construction operations.

Your expertise will directly contribute to the successful completion of projects and the safety standards maintained across all work sites.

Key responsibilities

- Operating excavators and other earthmoving equipment in accordance with site specifications and safety requirements
- Preparing and maintaining excavation equipment to ensure it is in optimal working condition
- Following detailed site plans and instructions provided by site supervisors and engineers
- Maintaining clear communication with other site personnel, particularly spotters and supervisors, to ensure safe operations
- Removing kerbings, footpaths, pavements and materials as directed, maintaining a clean and safe work environment
- Conducting pre-operation inspections and reporting any mechanical issues or safety hazards promptly
- Adhering to all site-specific safety protocols, procedures and relevant legislation
- Accurately documenting work completed and fuel usage as required by the company

What we're looking for

- Valid excavator Operator's Licence or equivalent qualification demonstrating competency in excavator operation
- Proven experience operating excavators on construction.




- Sound knowledge of safe work practices and relevant Health and Safety legislation applicable to plant operation
- Ability to interpret site plans, engineering drawings and work instructions
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a construction team
- Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Reliability, punctuality and a professional attitude towards work
- Familiar with levels and measuments
