About the role

New Farm Medical Centre Pty Ltd is seeking an Experienced Medical Receptionist to join our friendly and professional team on a casual basis. This is a vital front-line role that serves as the first point of contact for our patients and plays a crucial part in the smooth operation of our medical practice in New Farm, QLD 4005.

As an Experienced Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment, managing patient interactions, and ensuring the efficient administration of our clinic. Your professionalism, communication skills and organisational abilities will be essential in delivering excellent patient care and supporting our medical practitioners and administrative staff. This casual position is to cover staff members while they are on leave.

It may be a short-term position, and the successful candidate would be able to start immediately. Preferably, the successful candidate would be available to work on Mondays and Fridays, with the flexibility to work additional days as required.

Experience with Best practice Software is an advantage.

Key responsibilities

- Greeting patients warmly upon arrival and ensuring they feel welcome in the practice
- Managing patient registrations, bookings and appointment scheduling using medical practice management software
- Processing patient payments and handling billing enquiries accurately and professionally
- Answering and directing phone calls, taking messages and providing general information about the practice
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to privacy and health information regulations
- Preparing and organising patient files and medical records for practitioners
- Assisting with administrative tasks including data entry, correspondence and filing
- Managing waiting room areas and ensuring a clean, professional environment
- Providing general information and assistance to patients regarding appointments, services and medical procedures




- Supporting the practice with other administrative duties as required

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a medical receptionist or in a similar healthcare administrative role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse patients and staff
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Proficiency in computer systems and experience with medical practice management software preferred
- Accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when handling patient information and administrative tasks
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- A friendly, patient and professional demeanour
- Reliability and flexibility, particularly with casual shift arrangements
