About the Role

Friendly Grocer Mango Hill is looking for an experienced, reliable and highly effective supermarket all-rounder to join our team. Recent hands-on experience with Friendly Grocer, IGA, FoodWorks, SPAR or a similar independent/community supermarket is essential. This is not an entry-level position, and applicants without recent relevant supermarket experience may not be considered.

We are particularly interested in someone who has previous experience supervising staff, running shifts or assisting with store management. For the right person, there will be an opportunity to take on more responsibility and develop into a Second-in-Charge (2IC) role, working alongside our existing management team.

This position is mainly for weekday shifts, with approximately 20–38 hours per week available.

Key Responsibilities and Qualities

The successful applicant will be expected to:

- Replenish stock efficiently and maintain a high standard of shelf presentation
- Manage stock rotation, use-by dates and general stock control
- Receive, check and organise deliveries
- Operate the checkout and provide friendly customer service
- Follow daily job lists and complete duties without constant reminders
- Maintain store cleanliness, organisation and presentation
- Prepare simple food during morning shifts, including operating a deep fryer




- Follow all food-safety and store procedures
- Support the management team with daily store operations
- Guide and support other team members when required
- Identify jobs that need to be done and take action without always waiting to be asked

We are looking for someone who:
- Has recent experience in an independent or community supermarket
- Is highly self-motivated, disciplined and dependable
- Demonstrates a robust work ethic and takes pride in their work
- Works quickly and efficiently while maintaining a high standard
- Is punctual, responsible and able to work independently
- Shows initiative and takes ownership of their responsibilities
- Communicates confidently with customers and team members
- Has good weekday availability
- Has food-handling or deep-fryer experience, preferably

Previous supermarket supervisory, 2IC or management experience will be very highly regarded. Exact days, hours and hourly rate can be discussed based on the successful applicant’s experience, availability and level of responsibility.
