About the Team The Property Unit supports UTS by providing and maintaining safe, sustainable and effective learning, research and work environments across the University's property portfolio.
Working with faculties, divisions, contractors and service partners, the team delivers facilities management, maintenance, compliance and asset management services that support the UTS community.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the safe, efficient and compliant operation of a portfolio of university buildings and infrastructure.
Reporting to the Senior Facilities Manager, you will manage maintenance programs, building services, contractors, asset lifecycle activities and capital works. You will work closely with stakeholders to ensure facilities remain fit for purpose while supporting sustainability, operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the maintenance, performance and compliance of assigned facilities and building services.
- Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance, capital works and facilities-related projects.
- Monitor building systems, including Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Support asset lifecycle planning and sustainability initiatives.
- Manage contractors and service providers to ensure safety, quality and value for money.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and respond to operational needs.
- Contribute to maintenance budgets, procurement and expenditure management.
- Ensure compliance with WHS requirements, statutory obligations and building regulations.
- Provide leadership and support to team members where required.
About You
You are a proactive facilities professional with strong technical expertise, stakeholder management skills and a commitment to safety, compliance and customer service.
You can successfully manage competing priorities, contractors and operational challenges while maintaining high standards of service delivery and asset performance.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong facilities management and problem-solving capability.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to manage operational priorities, risks and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing contractors, service performance and budgets.
- Knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices and regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of asset management, sustainability, risk management and WHS principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and facilities management systems.
- Demonstrated leadership and team support capabilities.
Experience and Qualifications
- Significant experience in Facilities Management and/or Project Management within a large and complex environment.
- Experience managing operational and capital budgets.
- Experience delivering maintenance, building improvement or sustainability initiatives.
- Diploma qualification in Facilities Management, Engineering, Property, Project Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Trade qualification and NSW White Card.
What We Offer
Base Salary Range: $140,965 - $143,080 plus 17% superannuation.
This is a full-time continuing position.
