We're looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer (L2) to join our Sydney Airport team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys troubleshooting complex equipment, solving technical problems, and working directly with customers in a fast-paced operational environment.
You'll be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing advanced X-ray and trace detection systems while ensuring high levels of equipment availability and customer satisfaction.
What You'll Be Doing
- Troubleshoot, service, maintain and repair X-ray and trace detection equipment
- Complete preventative maintenance activities in line with service agreements and schedules
- Respond to breakdowns and corrective maintenance requests within KPI commitments
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using multimeters, software tools and diagnostic equipment
- Replace motors, belts, rollers, X-ray generators and other machine components
- Perform inspections, cleaning, repairs and component replacement within equipment
- Support installation and commissioning of new systems
- Complete service documentation, reports and maintenance records accurately
- Manage spare parts consumption and inventory transactions
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and recommend equipment enhancements
- Support and mentor junior engineers and new team members
- Maintain safe work practices and contribute to a strong safety culture
- Work collaboratively with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Certificate III Trade Qualification or Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, IT or related discipline
- 3+ years' experience in a field service, maintenance, manufacturing, automation or technical support environment
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical or electronic equipment
- Robust fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools and testing equipment
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Provisional or unrestricted driver's licence
- Ability to obtain Airport Security Identification Card (ASIC) and other relevant clearances
Desirable
- Experience supporting airport screening equipment, automation systems, industrial machinery, conveyors, X-ray systems and security technologies
- Experience working in a 24/7 operational environment
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and service KPIs
