Finance Assistant / Accounts Officer

Role Description We are seeking an accurate, dependable, and organized Finance Assistant / Accounts Officer to manage routine accounting transactions, maintain balanced financial ledgers, and support day-to-day finance operations. In this entry-to-junior level role, you will work closely with Accounts Payable/Receivable Leads, Senior Accountants, Finance Managers, and internal department representatives to ensure efficient financial processing and statutory compliance.

You will be responsible for processing vendor invoices, verifying payment vouchers, generating client billing, and maintaining up-to-date accounts payable and receivable ledgers.

Responsibilities include executing daily bank and cash reconciliations, auditing staff travel and expense reimbursements against company policies, posting routine general ledger journal entries, updating fixed asset registers, and retrieving financial records for internal and external audit checks. Success in this position requires a solid foundation in double-entry bookkeeping, keen numerical accuracy, proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets, strong organizational habits, and high personal integrity when handling confidential corporate finances.

Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline; progress toward or completion of foundation level professional certifications (e.g., AAT, ACCA foundation, LCCI, or diploma in bookkeeping) is advantageous.
- Core Bookkeeping & Accounting: Solid grasp of double-entry accounting fundamentals, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR),



accruals, prepayments, and journal voucher entries.
- Transaction & Invoice Processing: Practical experience verifying 3-way matching (Purchase Orders, Receiving Slips, and Invoices), issuing customer tax invoices, tracking outstanding payment collections, and preparing payment vouchers.
- Bank & Cash Reconciliation: Ability to accurately reconcile daily bank statements, audit credit card line items, manage petty cash disbursements, and balance cash floats.
- Accounting Software & ERPs: Hands-on exposure to or working knowledge of standard accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, SAP, AutoCount, or Oracle NetSuite).
- Spreadsheet Literacy: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, and data sorting) for tracking logs, aging analysis, and reconciliation work.
- Expense Audit & Tax Fundamentals: Understanding of corporate expense audit procedures, policy compliance checks, and basic familiarity with regional indirect tax requirements (e.g., VAT/GST/SST invoicing rules).
- Audit & Closing Support: Capability to assist with month-end schedule preparations, organize digital financial archives, and compile supporting documentation for audit reviews.
- Communication & Support: Clear, polite verbal and written communication skills to handle vendor payment inquiries, follow up with overdue clients, and address internal expense queries professionally.
- Professional Attributes: Exceptional numerical precision, robust organizational and multi-tasking abilities, strict adherence to financial confidentiality, and a dependable, team-oriented work ethic.
