Role Description The Fire Specialist will work full time in Brisbane, QLD, supporting the design and delivery of fire-engineered, performance-based solutions across a range of building types. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing fire risks, developing fire safety strategies, and contributing to fire prevention and protection plans aligned with client and regulatory requirements.
The role involves reviewing and interpreting codes and standards, preparing technical reports, and collaborating with architects, engineers, and project stakeholders to integrate fire safety into overall design.
The Fire
Specialist will also participate in site inspections, evaluate fire suppression systems, and provide recommendations to enhance life safety and resilience of building designs. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts in clear, practical terms.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in fire prevention and fire safety, including hazard identification and mitigation strategies.
- Experience with life safety principles and fire protection measures in the built environment.
- Knowledge of fire suppression systems and associated design, performance, and maintenance considerations.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in fire engineering, structural engineering, building services, or a closely related discipline.
- Familiarity with applicable fire codes, building regulations, and performance-based design methodologies.
- Proficiency in technical analysis and reporting, with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams and engage effectively with clients.
- Experience with computational modelling or structural fire analysis is advantageous.
- Professional accreditation or progress toward chartered/registered status in a relevant engineering field is beneficial.
