- Based in Ernabella (APY Lands - South Australia)
- 6 weeks annual leave, accommodation, relocation expenses and motor vehicle included

Lead with purpose. Strengthen communities. Shape the future. Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Education Committee (PYEC) is seeking an experienced and values-driven General Manager (GM) to lead the organisation through its next phase of growth, sustainability and impact.

PYEC is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation delivering education, youth, employment, cultural and community development initiatives across the APY Lands.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the GM will provide strategic, operational, financial and organisational leadership across the organisation and will be accountable for ensuring PYEC continues to deliver strong outcomes for Anangu children, young people, families and communities.

This is a significant executive leadership opportunity for someone who can balance strategic thinking with practical delivery, build trusted relationships across communities and government, and lead effectively within a complex and remote operating environment.

The Role

As General Manager, you will:

- Provide strategic leadership and direction across PYEC.
- Lead the implementation of the Strategic Plan, Business Plan and Operational Plan.
- Work closely with and provide high-quality advice to the Board of Directors.
- Lead organisational governance, risk, compliance and accountability.
- Oversee annual funding and revenue streams of approximately $3–6 million.
- Drive strong financial management,



sustainability and funding diversification.
- Provide executive oversight of programs and services across the APY Lands.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Anangu communities, government agencies, funding bodies and strategic partners.
- Lead and develop the senior leadership team and support a high-performing, respectful and culturally protected workplace.
- Strengthen Aboriginal employment, leadership development and succession planning.
- Ensure PYEC meets its legislative, contractual, funding and reporting obligations.
- Represent PYEC at senior community, government and sector levels.

About You The Board is seeking a highly capable executive with a demonstrated record of leading complex organisations and delivering strong organisational outcomes. You will be strategic, commercially astute and confident operating in a remote and culturally diverse environment. You will bring strong governance, financial and people leadership capability, together with the ability to build trusted relationships with Anangu communities, government, funding bodies and key partners.

You will demonstrate

- Significant executive leadership experience in a complex organisation.
- Strong strategic planning and organisational performance capability.




- Sound governance, risk, compliance and Board engagement experience.
- Strong financial and operational management expertise.
- Experience overseeing funded programs and contractual obligations.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement, advocacy and partnership-building skills.
- Experience working respectfully with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders.
- Ability to lead dispersed teams in a remote and complex environment.
- Strong workforce leadership and organisational culture capability.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.

Relevant tertiary qualifications are highly regarded. Experience in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, education, youth, employment or community development sector will also be highly regarded.
