About Us

n

Moreton Hospitality operates a portfolio of venues across South-East Queensland including The Straddie Hotel and a number of associated Cellarbrations bottle shops.

n

The Straddie Hotel sits directly across from Cylinder Beach on North Stradbroke Island. Following a full redevelopment, it now features a high-volume bistro, multiple bars, gaming, function spaces, 15 accommodation rooms and 3 bottle shops across the island, alongside the Waves Apartments letting business.

The Role

n

Reporting to the General Manager, you'll own the operation. This is a hands-on role - most of the time you'll be on the floor running shifts, but occasionally managing from an office.

n

Lead daily operations across bar, bistro, gaming and functions, holding service standards consistently

n

Manage venue rosters and labour costs, and step into shifts when needed

n

Lead, train and develop department managers and supervisors, including weekly WIPs and department head meetings

n

Own COGS, purchasing, stock control and venue budgets alongside the GM and Finance

n

Work with the Sales & Events team to deliver profitable functions

n

Maintain full compliance - liquor, OLGA, RSA/RSG, food safety and WHS

n

Partner with HR on recruitment, onboarding and performance

n

Prepare and present board reports,



and represent the venue in the GM's absence

What You'll Bring

n

5+ years in venue or operations management in a high-volume food and beverage workplace

n

Proven strength in cost control, rostering and operational reporting

n

Genuine leadership ability - you develop people, not just manage them

n

Confidence across compliance and liquor licensing obligations

n

Familiarity with POS and inventory systems

n

Availability across nights, weekends and public holidays

n

Hospitality or business qualifications welcome, but experience matters more

n

The Reality Check

n

The Straddie Hotel is on North Stradbroke Island, accessible by ferry. Whether you're already on the island or travelling from the mainland, you need to be comfortable with ferry timetables and a venue that runs differently to a Gold Coast or Brisbane operation. Someone living on the island is preferable to allow for operational coverage, but we are open to mainland candidates. For candidates looking to relocate to the island, we are open to discussing a remuneration package that includes accommodation.
