Description

Reporting to senior leadership, the Group Payroll Manager will provide both strategic and operational leadership across a large and complex payroll function. You will lead a team responsible for delivering accurate, compliant, and timely payroll services while driving operational excellence, enhancing controls, and identifying opportunities for ongoing improvement.

This is a highly visible leadership role requiring robust stakeholder engagement across Finance, HR, Technology, and Executive leadership teams.

- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing payroll team.




- Oversee the accurate and compliant delivery of payroll across a large national workforce.
- Ensure legislative, taxation, superannuation, award, and enterprise agreement compliance.
- Drive payroll transformation, systems optimisation, automation, and process improvement initiatives.
- Strengthen payroll governance, controls, reporting, and risk management frameworks.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to provide strategic payroll advice and support business objectives.
- Oversee payroll vendors, systems, and external stakeholder relationships.

Profile

- Demonstrated experience leading large, complex payroll functions.
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, taxation, and superannuation.
- Proven track record delivering payroll transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience leading and developing payroll teams within sizeable organisations.
- Experience with SAP Payroll will be highly regarded
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior levels.
- A strategic mindset combined with strong operational leadership capability.
