About the role

This is a full-time position working 38 hours per week. Early-morning and weekend work will be required to support bowls events, tournaments and seasonal maintenance activities.

The successful applicant will take primary responsibility for the condition and presentation of Club Malua's two natural grass bowling greens, surrounding grounds and general outdoor facilities.

The position will also work collaboratively with the Greens & Maintenance Manager at Cabra Bowls to develop and implement seasonal turf-management and renovation programs.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare, mow, roll and maintain two natural grass bowling greens.
- Prepare the greens to a high standard for social bowls, pennants, championships and tournaments.
- Collaborate with the Greens & Maintenance Manager at Cabra Bowls to develop and implement seasonal turf-maintenance and renovation programs.
- Undertake fertilising, aerating, top-dressing, pest control and disease-management activities.
- Monitor turf health, irrigation requirements and playing conditions.
- Maintain gardens, banks, pathways and surrounding outdoor areas.
- Operate, service and maintain greenkeeping machinery and equipment.
- Manage greenkeeping materials, chemicals, equipment and maintenance records.
- Coordinate specialist contractors and suppliers when required.




- Assist with general club maintenance, minor repairs and improvement projects.

About you

- Previous experience in greenkeeping, turf management or sports-ground maintenance.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining natural turf bowling greens or comparable sporting surfaces.
- Sound knowledge of turf renovation, irrigation, fertilising, pest control and disease management.
- The ability to plan, prioritise and manage work independently.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- A practical, hands-on approach to grounds and facility maintenance.
- Pride in maintaining high-quality playing surfaces and club facilities.
- Valuable communication skills and the ability to work positively with members, staff and contractors.
- Availability to work early mornings and weekends when required.
- Qualifications in sports turf management, horticulture or greenkeeping will be highly regarded. A current driver licence and relevant chemical-handling qualifications are also desirable.

About us Located in the coastal community of Malua Bay, Club Malua operates two natural grass bowling greens and is home to approximately 130 playing bowls members. Our greens support regular social bowls, pennants, club championships and tournaments throughout the year.
