The Role
Our Head of Business Development for MCA will take ownership on creating long-term value creation and sustainable growth within Australia. On a two-year fixed term contract, this is a hands-on role where you will identify, develop and execute new business and investment opportunities, with a strategic focus on the Consumer & Services Economy, including Healthcare & Wellness, Food & Nutrition, Retail & Consumer, and Animal Health & Services, and Digital Solutions.
You will have accountability to:
- Identify, evaluate and execute new business and investment opportunities, leading due diligence to support sound investment decisions
- Manage the end-to-end investment process from opportunity origination and evaluation through to negotiation and execution
- Develop MCA's business growth strategy and lead annual business planning in alignment with broader corporate objectives
- Structure and negotiate complex commercial agreements to deliver value and protect MCA’s interests
- Monitor business and investment performance, manage risk and ensure governance and regulatory compliance
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with government,
industry partners and investment stakeholders to strengthen MCA's market presence
- Represent MCA in senior-level commercial negotiations, strategic partnerships and government engagements
Desired Skills And Experience The Person You are a commercial leader with a strong track record in international business, business development, strategic investment, commercial transactions, and stakeholder relationship management. Already within your skillset is your proven experience identifying, evaluating, developing, and executing new business and investment opportunities - including preparing business cases, leading due diligence, structuring transactions, negotiating deals, and driving post-investment value creation.
- A tertiary qualification in Commerce, International Business, Finance or another relevant business discipline.
- Experience operating within a complex multinational, diversified trading, investment or corporate environment, preferably across Australia, New Zealand and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
- Experience developing and managing strategic partnerships, joint ventures, customer relationships and external business networks across multiple markets and stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, articulate and execute business and investment strategies that deliver measurable commercial outcomes and achieve both qualitative and quantitative objectives.
- Solid commercial acumen with advanced knowledge of international business, corporate finance, strategic planning, commercial law, governance, risk management and project delivery.
- Understanding of Japanese corporate culture, business practices and decision-making processes, together with experience working in a multinational or Japanese corporate environment, would be highly regarded.
