About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established global organization operating in medical devices and technology sector, with a strong presence across multiple international markets and a long-standing reputation for engineering excellence and quality.
As the business scales across the Pacific region, they are seeking a Head of Finance and Operations to act as strategic partner and deputy to the Managing Director — jointly leading the regional business and driving commercial, financial, and operational performance.
Purpose of the Role The Head of Finance and Operations directs all Finance and Operations activities within the region, aligned to business and functional strategy. The role is accountable for financial and operational strategy, control systems that safeguard company assets, accurate financial reporting, and sustaining profitable growth — with senior managerial responsibility across finance, IT, supply chain, and customer delivery/business excellence. As a member of the regional Executive Leadership Team, the role also shapes the strategic and commercial direction of the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as strategic business partner and deputy to the Managing Director, jointly leading the business.
- Drive short-, medium-, and long-term strategy, advising on performance, growth opportunities, and organizational change.
- Hold overall accountability for financial performance and operational effectiveness.
- Lead financial strategy to drive profitability, cost optimization, working capital performance, and long-term value creation.
- Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis; identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide executive oversight of key operational functions,
ensuring resilience, efficiency, and scalability as the business grows.
- Lead transformation initiatives — digitalization, automation, and continuous improvement — across the organization.
- Oversee core business systems, ensuring reliable service delivery and alignment with agreed standards.
- Establish and maintain governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks; ensure compliance with policy and applicable legal, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Act as primary liaison with auditors, group functions, treasury, tax, compliance, and external advisors.
- Lead, coach, and develop the teams reporting into the role, building a high-performance culture.
- Contribute to broader finance and operations communities, promoting best practice and continuous improvement.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified CPA/CA (or equivalent); MBA or similar preferred.
- Minimum 10 years' finance and controlling leadership experience in a global organization.
- Prior senior leadership experience (e.g. General Manager or equivalent) in a global company with multiple sales channels.
- Experience in an industrial, engineering, or technology sector advantageous, as well as work experience outside the local market.
- Strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills; strong facilitation, influencing, and communication skills across diverse cross-functional teams.
- Up-to-date finance, controlling, and commercial management expertise, including relevant accounting standards.
- Project management and consultancy experience a strong plus.
- Valuable working knowledge of core business and IT systems.
- High drive, strong execution skills, high integrity, and a compliance-focused mindset.
