Aureos are seeking a Head of Project Controls in Dungeness.

The Head of Project Controls will be responsible for establishing, maintaining and leading the project controls function on the Dungeness Boiler programme. The role ensures effective planning, scheduling, cost management, risk management, performance reporting and change control processes are implemented to enable successful project delivery.

The Head of Project Controls provides accurate and timely insight into project performance, supporting informed decision-making and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in accordance with agreed objectives.

Group Head of Project Controls – Establish a Group Project Controls function, responsible for producing standardised governance for Planning, Cost Management, Risk Management, Change Management & Document Control, plus the enterprise roll out of Earned Value Methodology.

Key Responsibilities Planning & Scheduling

- Working with the Planning Manager to implement and maintain integrated project schedules using recognised planning tools and methodologies.
- Establish project baselines and monitor progress against schedule commitments.
- Analyse critical paths, dependencies and resource requirements.
- Conduct schedule risk assessments and recommend mitigation plans.
- Ensure consistency of planning standards across projects and programmes.

Cost Management
- Support and maintain project budgets, forecasts and cost control processes.
- Monitor actual expenditure against approved budgets.
- Manage earned value management (EVM) processes and produce reports.
- Provide accurate cost forecasting and variance analysis.
- Support financial governance and reporting requirements.

Performance Reporting
- Develop and maintain project control dashboards and management information.
- Produce weekly and monthly project performance reports.
- Analyse trends, risks and opportunities impacting delivery outcomes.
- Present project status, forecasts and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Ensure reporting aligns with organisational governance requirements.

Risk & Opportunity Management
- Support project risk identification, assessment and management activities.
- Coordinate project risk and opportunity registers.
- Monitor mitigation and contingency plans.




- Escalate significant risks to project leadership teams.

Change Control
- Support and coordinate project change control procedures.
- Assess impacts of scope, schedule and cost changes.
- Maintain comprehensive change logs and audit trails.
- Support governance boards with change approval processes.

Governance & Assurance
- Ensure compliance with organisational, contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Drive continuous improvement across project controls processes and systems.

Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with project managers, commercial teams, finance teams and operational stakeholders.
- Provide project controls expertise to programme and project leadership.
- Challenge assumptions and provide independent assurance of project performance.
- Build effective relationships across the organisation and supply chain.

Leadership
- Lead and develop project controls teams and specialists.
- Coach and mentor team.
- Promote a culture of accountability, transparency and continuous improvement.
- Support capability development across the project delivery community.

Key Accountabilities

- Accurate and timely project performance reporting.
- Delivery of reliable schedules, forecasts and project controls data.
- Effective management of project budgets and financial performance.
- Robust governance, assurance and change control processes.
- Early identification and mitigation of project risks.
- Continuous improvement of project controls maturity and capability.

Essential Skills & Experience

- Significant experience in project controls, programme controls or PMO leadership roles.
- Strong expertise in planning, scheduling, cost management and reporting.
- Experience of managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects or programmes.
- Knowledge of project delivery methodologies and governance frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience leading and developing teams.




- Advanced proficiency in project controls and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of NEC contract frameworks.
- Extensive experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Experience within Nuclear or Nuclear Decommissioning programmes.
- Experience implementing project controls systems and digital reporting solutions.
- Experienced user of Power BI and data analytics platforms.
- Proficient in P6

Qualifications Essential

- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business or related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Desirable
- APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ).
- APM Project Controls Qualification (PCQ).
- PMI-SP, PMP or equivalent certification.
- Association of Cost Engineers (ACostE) membership.
- Chartered status through a relevant professional institution.
