About Peel Aquatic Swimming Club

Peel Aquatic Swimming Club (PAQ) is a growing competitive swimming club based in Mandurah, Western Australia. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Swimming Coach to lead the continued development and growth of our competitive swimming program. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated coach who wants to make a genuine impact on swimmer development, team culture and the long-term direction of a growing club.

Our ambition is to provide a clear pathway for swimmers to progress from junior development through to State and National-level competition, while maintaining a positive, inclusive and supportive club environment.

About the role

As Head Swimming Coach, you will lead the planning, delivery and development of PAQ's competitive swimming program. The role combines hands-on coaching with leadership of the wider coaching program. You will work closely with swimmers, coaches and the Club Committee to develop clear athlete pathways, maintain high coaching standards and support the sustainable growth of the Club.

The successful applicant will play a key role in shaping the future direction of PAQ and building a strong, connected and performance-focused swimming program.

Key responsibilities

- Lead, plan and deliver high-quality training programs across the Club's competitive squads.
- Coach swimmers directly and support their progression from junior development through to State and National-level competition.
- Develop and oversee structured annual training plans, competition preparation and long-term athlete development pathways.
- Monitor swimmer progress and provide high-quality technical coaching in stroke development, starts, turns, underwater skills and race strategies.
- Establish clear squad standards and progression pathways across the Club.
- Prepare and support swimmers at targeted competitions, including State and National Championships where appropriate.
- Lead,



support and mentor assistant coaches to promote consistency and quality across the Club's coaching program.
- Create a positive, disciplined and inclusive training environment that promotes athlete development, wellbeing, commitment and enjoyment.
- Build strong and professional relationships with swimmers, parents, coaches, officials, the Club Committee and other key stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with the Club Committee to support swimmer recruitment and retention, program development and the sustainable growth of PAQ.

About you We are looking for an experienced competitive swimming coach who is passionate about athlete development and enjoys building programs, people and team culture.

- A minimum of five years' experience in competitive swimming coaching, including experience in a senior, lead or head coaching capacity.
- Demonstrated experience developing swimmers to State and/or National Championship level, or equivalent.
- Strong technical knowledge of competitive swimming and the ability to design, implement and evaluate effective training programs.
- Experience developing swimmers across different stages of a competitive pathway.
- Solid knowledge of long-term athlete development, annual planning and competition preparation.
- The ability to lead, support and mentor other coaches.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with swimmers, families, coaching staff and stakeholders.
- A collaborative and proactive approach, with a genuine desire to contribute to the long-term growth of the Club.

Essential Requirements




- Swimming Australia Development Coach accreditation or higher, or an equivalent recognised international swimming coaching qualification.
- Current Working with Children Check, or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
- Current National Police Clearance, or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
- Availability to work the hours required by a competitive swimming program, including early mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends.
- Availability to attend targeted competitions, training camps and other Club activities as required.

Desirable
- Swimming Australia Advanced Coach accreditation, or recognised international equivalent.
- Experience coaching athletes at Australian National Championships or equivalent national-level competition.
- Experience within a high-performance or performance-development swimming environment.
- Knowledge of contemporary approaches to swimming performance, including physiology, biomechanics, strength and conditioning integration and athlete monitoring.
