About the role

This is a full-time position, fixed term until 30 June 2027, with the possibility of extension. Based at the GPH Wagga Wagga hub or working remotely across the Snowy Valleys region.

The Health Promotion Project Officer oversees the planning, implementation, delivery and evaluation of mental health promotion, wellbeing and social connection initiatives in parts of the Murrumbidgee and Snowy Valleys regions (with a focus on the areas east and northeast of Wagga, in communities such as Tumut, Batlow, Gundagai, Crookwell and out to Yass).

Duties

- Develop health promotion initiatives that improve community health outcomes
- Increase access to care for priority populations and support early intervention

- Deliver mental health skills training to build community awareness and wellbeing
- Build partnerships with community groups and key stakeholders to support program design and delivery

Skills & Experience

1. Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or extensive experience in community development, health promotion, public health, social sciences, or education.

2.



Demonstrated experience engaging and communicating effectively with groups, including public speaking and tailoring communication to diverse audiences.
3. Strong understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of people with mental health and/or substance use issues or experiencing adversity.
4. Awareness of the needs of diverse communities including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, multicultural, and LGBTIQA+ communities.
