Job Overview:

XCMG Mining Equipment Australia is seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Fitter to join an embedded site support team maintaining a fleet of XC9260 electric drive wheel loaders at a Tier 1 iron ore operation in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. This is a permanent full-time, site-based position on a 2/2 FIFO roster from Perth, working as part of a small XCMG crew embedded within the customer’s maintenance environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduled servicing, component change-out, repair and breakdown support across the loader fleet, working to XCMG factory standards while operating under the customer’s site safety and permit systems.

The XC9260 is a 26 tonne class production loader driven by four independently controlled electric wheel motors, so the role calls for a fitter who is comfortable working on and around a high voltage machine alongside an HV electrical technician. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who can work autonomously, resolve faults in the field and represent XCMG credibly in front of the customer every day.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Perform scheduled servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance on the XC9260 wheel loader fleet in accordance with XCMG maintenance schedules.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults, and carry out breakdown repairs to return machines to service with minimum downtime.
- Carry out component change-outs and overhauls, including drivetrain, final drives, hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves,

brakes, cooling systems and ground engaging tools.
- Conduct periodic structural inspections of frames, linkage, boom and bucket assemblies, and report cracking, wear and defects for engineering assessment.
- Interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, hydraulic schematics and service bulletins to perform repairs and factory-directed modifications.
- Work alongside the site HV electrical technician on combined mechanical and electrical fault finding, observing high voltage isolation and access controls at all times.
- Work under the customer’s site safety management system – inductions, isolations, permits, JHAs and take-5s – and comply with XCMG HSEC requirements at all times.
- Support the planning and scheduling of maintenance events with the customer’s maintenance planners so that XCMG work aligns with available shutdown windows.
- Complete field service reports, maintenance records, component histories and warranty documentation accurately and on time.
- Operate tools and equipment such as forklifts, EWPs, welding machines, overhead cranes and hand tools as required.
- Provide feedback on product performance, repeat failures and improvement opportunities to XCMG product support and the factory.
- Represent XCMG professionally on site and build long-term working relationships with the customer’s maintenance and operations personnel.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a Heavy Duty Fitter or Mechanic within the heavy mining equipment industry, with a minimum of 3 years’ OEM experience.
- Trade certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanical Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, or equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining large production wheel loaders or comparable surface mining equipment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems used in mining equipment; exposure to electric drive machines is highly regarded.

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, hydraulic schematics and manuals.
- Familiarity with safety standards, isolation and lockout/tagout procedures and hazard identification, and with working under a mine site permit system.
- Demonstrated welding and fabrication capability – must hold recognized welding certification(s) and be able to demonstrate advanced welding capability for structural and fabrication work.
- Proven ability to work unsupervised in a remote site environment and make sound decisions without immediate supervision.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under production pressure.
- Strong communication, teamwork and customer service skills, with the ability to build long-term relationships in an embedded customer workplace.
- Willing and able to commit to a 2/2 FIFO roster.
- Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident with full work rights in Australia.

Certificates required:

- National Police Clearance
- Current WA driver’s license
- Forklift ticket
- Working at Heights
- Air-conditioning ticket
- Recognized welding certification(s)
- WA general mining induction (MARCSTA or equivalent) – desirable
- All certificates must be current and valid.

Additional Information:

- Site based in the Pilbara region of Western Australia on a 2/2 FIFO roster (two weeks on, two weeks off), 12-hour shifts with day and night rotation as required by site operations. Perth is the point of hire.
- The position is embedded within the customer’s operation. The successful candidate will work daily inside the customer’s maintenance, safety and permit systems and must obtain and maintain all required site inductions and access approvals.
- Continuous coverage of the 2/2 cycle requires a back-to-back pair. This application covers one position; a second is required to complete the coverage cycle.
- The scope of work, shift pattern and crewing are set under a customer support agreement and may be varied by agreement with the customer.
- A pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening and a fitness-for-work assessment, is required.
- Ongoing development is supported through XCMG factory technical training in China.
- No visa sponsorship is available – full Australian work rights are required.
