HSE Advisor
AUSCOIL is an Australian-owned oil and gas well services company based in Charlton, Toowoomba. We deliver efficient well intervention, production enhancement, cementing and coiled tubing services to major oil and gas operators across Australia.
Our reputation has been built by a specialist team focused on safety, reliability, efficiency and innovation — including developing and implementing new technologies that improve the way work gets done in the field.
As a result of growth, we are now looking for a hands-on HSE Advisor to join our team.
This is a newly created, full-time, site-based role working a 15 days on / 13 days off roster, reporting to the HSEQ Manager. This role is all about being out in the field, working directly with crews on active oil and gas well sites — not sitting in an office writing reports.
You’ll be the person who helps make safety practical, visible and embedded in everyday work. Working closely with field crews, you’ll support secure operations by identifying risks early, coaching teams and helping translate procedures into real-world solutions that work on site.
This role requires a strong field presence, proactive engagement with crews, and the ability to turn Australian WHS legislation, client requirements and internal procedures into clear, practical controls that support safe and efficient operations.
If you enjoy being in the field, working alongside crews and making safety real rather than theoretical, this is the role for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site WHS support in accordance with the Australian WHS legislation, P&G; legislation, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice, Safer Together specifications and guidelines, client requirements and AUSCOIL policies and procedures
- Support and coach site crews through visible field engagement, promoting a positive and practical safety culture with a focus on influencing behaviour rather than enforcement only approaches
- Apply,
review and continuously improve WHS safety systems to ensure they are effective, practical, compliant and suitable for live oil and gas operations
- Support and conduct inspections and audits of site activities and equipment, identifying hazards and improvement opportunities and the implementation of effective risk controls
- Act as a conduit between site and base, providing feedback to support the development and improvement of policies, procedures and systems
- Support incident investigations and risk management activities
- Facilitate and participate in HASOBs and STEP7s, ensuring controls are understood and implemented in the field
- Encourage open communication and workforce participation in safety initiatives and continuous improvement
Skills & Experience
- 2+ years Safety experience in well maintenance, oil & gas, drilling, well servicing, or similar high-risk environments
- Strong understanding of Australian WHS legislation, P&G; legislation, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice and their practical application
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to engage crews without an enforcement-only approach
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Qualifications
- Cert IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent) – preferred
- 4WD Training, WPTW, Assist and Assure Training or coaching experience, weed and seed training - preferred
- Drug & Alcohol Testing - desirable
- Investigation certification(s) - desirable
- Auditing credentials or quality systems experience are highly valued
