Own the HR function. Build what comes next.

Atmail is looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to take ownership of our people function as we bring HR capability in-house and continue to evolve the way we operate.

This is a rare chance for a broad HR generalist who enjoys being close to the business.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll be Atmail's lead HR practitioner, working across the full employee lifecycle while helping shape the frameworks, practices and culture that support our next stage.

There isn't a large HR team or layers of process around you. You'll have the autonomy to make things happen, access to administrative and specialist support when required, and the opportunity to have a genuine impact across a distributed, international technology business.

What you'll be doing

You'll take ownership across a broad HR portfolio, including:

- Advising the CEO and leadership team on people strategy and workforce matters
- Building and improving HR frameworks, policies and processes
- Managing employee and industrial relations matters, including performance, grievances, investigations and workplace conduct
- Ensuring compliance with Australian employment law, the Fair Work Act, NES and applicable modern awards
- Leading recruitment, selection and onboarding
- Developing performance, feedback and employee development practices
- Managing remuneration, benefits and market benchmarking
- Measuring employee engagement and culture and turning insights into practical action
- Supporting organisational change and workforce planning
- Overseeing people-related WHS matters within a remote workforce
- Improving HR systems, reporting, people analytics and automation

- Using AI and emerging technology thoughtfully to improve HR productivity and practice

What we're looking for You'll bring at least 7 years' broad generalist HR experience and, importantly, the confidence and judgement to operate with significant autonomy.

You'll need

- Strong practical knowledge of Australian employment law and industrial relations
- Hands-on employee relations and performance management experience
- Experience building or materially improving HR policies, frameworks and processes
- End-to-end recruitment and selection experience
- Experience working directly with executives or senior leaders
- Strong judgement, discretion and the confidence to challenge constructively when required
- The ability to move comfortably between strategic advice and hands-on delivery
- Strong HR systems and technology capability, including an interest in practical automation and AI

Experience as a sole or lead HR practitioner within a small or mid-sized organisation would be particularly valuable. Experience within technology, SaaS or another distributed international business would also be highly regarded. Why Atmail?

This isn't a role where you'll simply administer established HR processes.

You'll inherit a foundation, but you'll also be expected to improve it — deciding what Atmail needs, building practical solutions and helping our leaders create a consistent employee experience as the business evolves.

Atmail's values — Be the Team, Think Customer, Be Authentic, Get It Done Right and Be a Protector — underpin how we want to operate. You'll play an important role in turning those values into everyday people practices and helping us understand where we're doing well and where we need to improve.
