About the position
Reporting to the Team Leader Immunisation, the Immunisation Nurse (casual) is responsible for contributing to the delivery of Council’s Immunisation Program to the community, and for promoting the importance of immunisation to community members.
Key responsibilities are
- Assist in the delivery of Council’s Immunisation Program in accordance with Service Agreements and relevant guidelines, policies and protocols.
- Provide nursing support for Council’s Immunisation Clinics, School Immunisation Program and any additional programs / studies that arise.
- Promote the importance of immunisation in the community and Council’s Immunisation service.
- Educate parents/clients by providing them with accurate advice and information relating to immunisations and the treatment of reactions, and make referrals as necessary.
Position Description - Immunisation Nurse
About you:
To meet the requirements of the role it is essential that you are a Registered nurse with AHPRA (3 years minimum), and have:
- Accreditation as an Immunisation Nurse
- Must have a current DHS Working with Children Check, or the willingness to obtain one
- Current First Aid or CPR certificate (or willing to attend training)
- Child Safe Environment training certificate (or willing to attend training)
- Driver’s licence
- Knowledge of the National Immunisation Program Schedule and the Australian Immunisation Handbook
- Knowledge of vaccines and vaccine storage
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures following vaccination
- Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical
Experience in administering immunisations to a range of clients including babies, young children and adolescents is preferred.
