Middlemount Coal Mine is located approximately 90 kilometres north-east of Emerald and some 7 kilometres west of the township of Middlemount in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.

Middlemount Coal Mine is an open-cut coal mine which uses conventional truck and shovel methods. Middlemount Coal commenced its full-scale operations in November 2011, producing approximately 4Mtpa of coking and PCI coal for export. Middlemount Coal Mine has a life expectancy estimated to be more than 30 years.

Middlemount Coal Pty Ltd (Middlemount) is an incorporated joint venture between Peabody Energy Australia Pty Ltd and Yancoal Australia Ltd.

About the Role

Reporting to the Health, Safety & Training Manager, the Inductions and Compliance Officer plays a vital role in supporting a safe, compliant, and well-trained workforce. Responsible for coordinating inductions, managing training and compliance documentation, and supporting employee and contractor onboarding, this position ensures adherence to regulatory requirements and company safety standards. Working closely with site teams, the role also contributes to the continuous improvement of training initiatives, health programs, and safety systems that underpin operational success.

This role is a 12 Month Fixed Term Full Time position.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate end-to-end onboarding, inductions, and compliance requirements for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Maintain training systems, deliver training programs, and manage competency, qualification, and workforce development plans.
- Support health, safety, and compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to site, statutory, and SHMS requirements.
- Conduct audits, monitor compliance performance, and assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Manage document control, compliance records, training registers,



and SharePoint-based systems.
- Coordinate employee health and medical compliance programs, including fitness for work, medical assessments, and drug and alcohol testing.
- Prepare compliance, training, and safety reports, presentations, and regulatory submissions.
- Support emergency response preparedness, rescue equipment compliance, and Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and support for trainer and assessor capability development.
- Collaborate with operational leaders, statutory officials, contractors, and external stakeholders to maintain a safe, compliant, and skilled workforce.

About You To be successful in this role you will possess:

Essential

- Certificate IV in WHS or Training & Assessment (TAE40116) – Preferred
- Experience in a high-risk or industrial workplace
- Familiarity with RTO compliance, SHMS, and site audits
- Demonstrated experience in training and induction delivery
- Exposure to ICAM, Risk Assessments, and Document Control Systems
