Collins Executive Recruitment
Melbourne
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Analyst or early-stage Associate to join a highly regarded global investment banking platform in Melbourne.
The team advises leading corporates, financial sponsors and institutional clients on complex strategic and transactional matters across Australia and internationally, with particular strength across mergers and acquisitions, strategic advisory and capital markets.
This role would suit someone looking to build their career within a lean, senior-led advisory environment where junior bankers are given meaningful responsibility, direct exposure to clients and the opportunity to work closely with experienced bankers across Australia, Asia-Pacific and global offices.
The Opportunity
Working as part of a high-performing Melbourne team, you will be involved across the full transaction lifecycle, from origination and strategic analysis through to execution and completion.
The role offers exposure to a broad range of sectors and transaction types, including public and private M&A;, strategic advisory, capital raisings, restructurings and other complex corporate situations.
The team operates with a relatively flat structure, creating robust access to senior bankers and allowing high-performing Analysts and Associates to take on meaningful responsibility earlier than they might within a larger, more hierarchical platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the origination and execution of M&A;, strategic advisory and capital markets transactions
- Build and manage detailed financial models, including DCF, merger models, LBO analysis and trading and transaction comparables
- Undertake detailed valuation, financial and strategic analysis across a range of transaction situations
- Prepare high-quality client presentations, transaction materials,
investment analysis and strategic discussion papers
- Coordinate due diligence processes and work closely with clients, legal advisers, accountants and other transaction participants
- Assist with transaction structuring, process management and preparation of key deal documentation
- Conduct detailed company, sector and market research to support both live transactions and origination activity
- Work directly with senior bankers and increasingly take responsibility for managing discrete workstreams
- At Associate level, review junior output and contribute to the development of Analysts within the team
Candidate Profile
- Approximately 1-4 years of experience within investment banking.
- Strong exposure to M&A; transaction execution
- Excellent financial modelling, valuation and analytical capability
- The ability to understand businesses quickly and develop commercially relevant insights
- Strong written communication and presentation skills
- A high level of attention to detail and technical accuracy
- The ability to manage multiple workstreams in a demanding transaction environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with senior colleagues, clients and advisers
- A genuine desire to build a long-term career in investment banking
Why Consider the Opportunity?
This is a strong opportunity for an ambitious Analyst or Associate looking for greater transaction exposure, closer access to senior bankers and a more direct role in advising clients.
The platform combines the reach and transaction capability of a global investment bank with the working style of a relatively lean advisory team.
For the right candidate, it provides exposure to high-quality transactions, international mandates, experienced senior bankers and a clear path to developing into a well-rounded corporate adviser.
