IT Support Officer / IT Support Specialist (Entry / Junior Level)
Role Description We are seeking an approachable, technical, and methodical IT Support Officer / IT Support Specialist to provide first- and second-line technical assistance, maintain internal hardware and software systems, and ensure seamless daily technology operations. In this entry-to-junior level position, you will work closely with System Administrators, Network Engineers, Operations Leads, and end-users to resolve technical issues promptly and uphold IT service level agreements (SLAs).
You will be responsible for provisioning user accounts, deploying and configuring desktop hardware, troubleshooting network connectivity issues, and managing helpdesk ticketing queues.
Responsibilities include installing and updating enterprise software, maintaining physical and digital IT asset inventories, enforcing cybersecurity best practices, and drafting end-user technical guides. Success in this position requires strong diagnostic logic, hands-on knowledge of operating systems and office productivity suites, transparent communication skills, and a patient, customer-focused approach to technical troubleshooting.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, System Administration, Computer Engineering, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator) are an advantage.
- Operating Systems & Endpoint Management: Practical experience configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining Windows 10/11, macOS,
and mobile operating systems (iOS/Android).
- Identity & Access Management: Working knowledge of user administration, password resets, and permission provisioning within Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), or Google Workspace Admin Console.
- Networking Fundamentals: Foundational understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN configurations, Wi-Fi connectivity, and basic LAN hardware troubleshooting.
- Helpdesk Operations & Ticketing: Hands-on experience or familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) ticketing tools (e.g., Jira Service Management, Freshservice, Zendesk, or ServiceNow).
- Hardware Assembly & Maintenance: Ability to set up, diagnose, repair, and maintain desktop PCs, laptops, monitors, VoIP systems, and office peripherals (printers/scanners).
- SaaS & Productivity Suites: Proficiency in supporting cloud productivity tools (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace) and enterprise communication software (Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
- Cybersecurity Hygiene: Knowledge of core IT security practices, including endpoint protection, patch management, anti-phishing protocols, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and data backup procedures.
- Technical Documentation & Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff and write user knowledge-base articles.
- Professional Attributes: Strong problem-solving logic, patience, excellent time management under high ticket volumes, and high ethical integrity when handling sensitive user data.
