Role Description

Japanese Language Tutors at WEA Sydney design and deliver classroom-based lessons that build learners’ skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing Japanese. Tasks include planning lesson content and activities, preparing teaching materials, assessing learner progress, and providing constructive feedback. Tutors collaborate with WEA staff to schedule classes, align course content with learner needs,



and support a welcoming and inclusive classroom setting.

The role involves engaging adult learners with clear explanations, interactive practice, and culturally informed teaching. This is an on-site and/or hybrid role based in the Greater Sydney Area.

Qualifications

- Strong teaching skills, with experience in Tutoring and Teaching adult learners
- Effective communication skills and ability to explain language concepts clearly
- Experience in online tutoring or blended learning environments is an advantage
- Proficiency in Japanese, with the ability to teach across different proficiency levels
- Relevant teaching qualification or certification (e.g., language teaching, adult education) preferred
- Experience in supporting multilingual learners is beneficial
- Commitment to inclusive, learner-centered education and the values of community adult education
- Ability to plan courses, manage classroom dynamics, and assess learner progress responsibly.
