Junior Estimator & Project Coordinator - Waterproofing | Sales & Operations
Brendale, Brisbane, QLD | Full-Time | $65,000–$75,000 + Super
Learn the numbers. Win the work. Help deliver the project. Looking for a construction career where no two days are exactly the same?
This is your opportunity to get involved in estimating, sales, project/site coordination, and operations with an established and growing South-East Queensland waterproofing company.
At Blutec Waterproofing, you won’t just sit behind a desk doing take-offs all day. You’ll learn how a project moves through a real construction business—from the first enquiry and estimate, through winning the work, organising the team and materials, to completion and invoicing.
If you’re organised, commercially minded, valuable with people and keen to build a serious career in construction, we’d like to hear from you.
Why You’ll Like This Role
- Own jobs from enquiry to completion – see the work you price actually get delivered.
- Build a real career in estimating and projects – with genuine opportunity to progress as Blutec grows.
- Learn from an experienced construction team and develop practical commercial knowledge.
- Work across residential and commercial projects rather than doing the same thing every day.
- Build relationships with builders, renovators, suppliers and commercial clients.
- Get involved in sales, estimating, operations and project delivery instead of being stuck in one narrow role.
- Take real ownership and have your ideas and contribution noticed.
- Join a stable, established and growing business with a supportive, close-knit team.
Help Us Win the Work—and Deliver It Successfully
Blutec Waterproofing is looking for an organised and commercially minded Junior Estimator & Project Coordinator to join our growing team in Brendale. This is a varied role combining:
Estimating + Quoting + Sales + Scheduling + Project Coordination + Purchasing + Materials + Job Administration
You’ll help move work through the business from the first customer enquiry and quotation right through to technician scheduling, material preparation, project delivery, invoicing and final job close-out.
It’s a great opportunity for someone who wants to understand how a successful construction business actually operates, not just one small part of it.
You might already have experience in construction, waterproofing, building, maintenance or trade services—or you may be early in your estimating career and looking for the right company to develop your skills.
You’ll need to be comfortable using computers and speaking with customers, builders, technicians and suppliers. The role also includes some practical materials and warehouse coordination, so you should be comfortable occasionally getting away from the desk and helping organise stock and materials.
Waterproofing experience is a bonus—but we’re more interested in finding the right person with the right attitude, organisation and commercial mindset.
About Blutec Waterproofing
Blutec Waterproofing is an established waterproofing contractor servicing Brisbane, Ipswich, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. www.blutec.com.au For more than 10 years, we have delivered residential and commercial waterproofing solutions for builders, renovators, homeowners, flooring companies, healthcare facilities and commercial clients.
Our projects range from bathrooms, showers and balconies through to new residential developments and major commercial waterproofing projects.
We’ve built our reputation around quality workmanship, responsive service and waterproofing solutions built to last.
We’re continuing to grow—and we’re looking for someone who wants to grow with us.
What You’ll Be Doing
Sales, Estimating & Quoting
This is where projects begin. You’ll help turn enquiries, plans and opportunities into profitable projects.
- Respond to new enquiries and discuss project requirements with customers.
- Review plans, specifications, photographs and scopes of work.
- Complete material take-offs and prepare accurate estimates and quotations.
- Follow up submitted quotations and help turn opportunities into confirmed work.
- Build and maintain relationships with builders, renovators, commercial clients and industry partners.
- Proactively identify upcoming projects, tender opportunities and potential customers.
- Assist with tender preparation and submissions.
- Maintain an organised pipeline of enquiries, quotations, follow-ups and upcoming opportunities.
- Work with management to review pricing, margins and project requirements.
- Develop your understanding of waterproofing systems, construction methodology, labour requirements and material costs.
The goal: learn how to price work accurately, communicate value and help Blutec win the right projects.
Scheduling & Project Coordination
Once we win the job, you’ll help make sure we deliver it properly.
- Create jobs, scopes of work, job descriptions and work orders.
- Schedule and dispatch technicians based on project priorities, location and required skills.
- Coordinate site access, customer appointments, materials, deliveries and project documentation.
- Make sure technicians receive clear instructions and have everything required before arriving on site.
- Communicate scheduling changes and project updates with customers and technicians.
- Monitor jobs from approval through to completion.
- Follow up outstanding information, approvals, paperwork, photographs and technician notes.
- Help resolve day-to-day scheduling, customer and project issues.
- Keep projects moving and make sure nothing important falls through the cracks.
You’ll become one of the people who knows what is happening, where it is happening and what needs to happen next.
Purchasing & Materials Coordination
A well-run project starts before the technician arrives on site.
- You’ll help ensure the right materials are available for the right job at the right time.
- Raise and manage purchase orders for materials and services.
- Obtain supplier pricing and confirm product availability and delivery timeframes.
- Receive deliveries and check materials against purchase orders.
- Allocate and prepare the correct materials for each job.
- Dispatch stock and materials to technicians or project sites.
- Monitor stock levels and arrange replenishment where required.
- Investigate incorrect deliveries, shortages, damaged materials and stock discrepancies.
- Help maintain a safe, accurate and organised warehouse area.
You won't be glued to a desk—you'll also understand the practical side of getting projects ready to go.
Job Costing & Accounts Administration
Winning work is important. Understanding whether the job performed commercially is just as important. You’ll help close the loop between estimate, delivery and actual project cost.
- Enter or upload supplier invoices into the accounting system.
- Match supplier invoices against purchase orders, deliveries and individual jobs.
- Ensure labour, materials and supplier costs are allocated to the correct project.
- Prepare and document job variations and obtain customer approval where required.
- Ensure approved variations are added to the job and included in customer invoicing.
- Review completed jobs and make sure all required information is available for invoicing.
- Assist with job costing, margin reviews and closing completed work orders.
Over time, you'll develop a strong understanding of construction costs, margins and what makes a project commercially successful.
About You
You don’t need to know everything on day one. We’re looking for someone who is switched on, organised, curious, commercially aware and willing to learn.
You enjoy solving problems, talking to people and keeping things moving.
You’re comfortable taking responsibility and you don’t need someone standing over you all day to get things done.
Ideally, you’ll have some experience with:
- Construction, waterproofing, building, maintenance or another trade-services business.
- Estimating, take-offs, quotations or project pricing.
- Reading construction plans, specifications or scopes of work.
- Following up quotations and communicating with customers.
- Scheduling, project coordination or service coordination.
- Purchase orders, supplier invoices, job costing or variations.
- Job-management, CRM, inventory or accounting software.
More importantly, you’ll bring:
- Strong computer skills and the confidence to learn new systems.
- A professional and friendly phone manner.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to manage several priorities without losing track of the important stuff.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to problems.
- Commercial awareness and an interest in understanding how businesses make money.
- Confidence working independently while still being part of a close-knit team.
- A willingness to ask questions, learn quickly and improve.
- A current Australian driver's licence.
Waterproofing experience is highly regarded but absolutely not essential. Experience in remedial building, roofing, plumbing, electrical, painting, flooring, facilities maintenance or another project-based trade business would also translate well into this position.
If you’ve got the fundamentals and the right attitude, we can teach you the waterproofing side.
Where This Role Can Take You
We’re not looking for someone to remain a junior forever. As you develop your estimating, construction and commercial skills, there will be opportunities to take on larger projects, greater estimating responsibility, key client relationships and more involvement in the commercial side of the business.
A potential career path could look like:
Junior Estimator & Project Coordinator → Estimator → Project Estimator / Project Manager → Senior Estimating or Operations Roles
Blutec is growing, which means the opportunities inside the business can grow too.
We want someone who looks at this position and thinks:
“I could build a career here.”
What We Offer
- $65,000–$75,000 + super, depending on experience and capability.
- Full-time, stable employment with an established business.
- Genuine training in estimating, waterproofing systems and construction project delivery.
- A varied role where you’ll actually understand the projects you’re working on.
- Real responsibility and ownership—not just junior-level busywork.
- Exposure to residential and commercial projects of varying sizes.
- Direct involvement in estimating, customers, projects and business operations.
- Ongoing training and professional development.
- A friendly, professional and supportive team.
- Genuine career progression as Blutec continues to expand.
- The opportunity to become an important part of a growing South-East Queensland construction business.
