Pixite

Penrith

You can already build a page.

What a tutorial cannot give you is another developer looking over your shoulder, explaining why your layout falls apart at 768px and how to stop it happening again.

That is this job. You build real client websites from real Figma files, and we teach you the craft while you do it.

About Pixite

Pixite is a digital agency in Penrith CBD. We do SEO, web development, paid ads and digital marketing for businesses across Australia: local trades, professional services and eCommerce brands. Small team, real clients, work that goes live and gets used. We are nerds, openly. There are too many plants in the office and too much coffee in the kitchen. We take the work seriously and ourselves considerably less so.

What you will do

- Build responsive web pages from Figma designs.
- Write HTML and CSS that is clean and easy to read.
- Use the BEM method to name and structure your CSS classes.
- Build and change WordPress themes.
- Build small custom WordPress plugins.
- Update and maintain client websites.
- Find bugs and correct them.
- Test each page on different browsers and screen sizes.
- Speak to a senior when you do not know the answer.

What you need

The part that matters most:

- A great attitude.
- Curiosity. You want to know why, not just that it works.
- The confidence to ask when you are stuck.
- A bit of grit. Some bugs do not give up easily.
- You take feedback as help, not criticism.
- You use AI where it helps. As an assistant, not as a replacement for your own thinking.
- You care when the spacing is 4px out.

The technical side.

Where you are now, not where you need to stay:
- HTML and CSS. Solid fundamentals. You understand the box model, flexbox and media queries.
- Clean, structured CSS. We use BEM. If you already write it, excellent. If not, we will teach you, because it is how the whole team works.
- WordPress. Experience, not expertise. You have worked in themes, not just filled in pages.
- Shopify. Again, experience is enough. You have been inside a store and seen a Liquid template.
- JavaScript. Enough to write your own DOM interactions and read someone else's script without panicking.
- PHP. Enough to work inside WordPress template files and understand what a hook does.

Formal qualifications are not required. We would rather see one project you are proud of than a degree you are not.

Nice to have

None of these are dealbreakers. Each one is a head start.

- WooCommerce
- Tailwind CSS or a similar framework
- Git
- Webflow
- An interest in UX and interface design

What you get

- Proper mentoring. You are paired with a senior developer, not left to work it out alone. Padawan to Jedi is an actual path here, not a slogan on a careers page.
- Real projects. Client sites that go live,

not sandbox exercises.
- Hours that suit you. Part time or full-time. Tell us what you are after and we will work it out.
- Penrith CBD office. Close to the station, the bus interchange and the shops.
- Sit-stand desks. Because backs matter.
- Snacks. Restocked properly, not one sad bowl of stale muesli bars.
- A team that looks out for each other. Friendly, diverse, and comfortable with different brains: we are a neurodivergent-friendly workplace, and the way we work reflects that.

The honest bits

- This is a 6-month contract, based in our Penrith office.
- Hours are flexible: part-time or full time. We will agree the days with you before you start.
- Some weeks are steady. Some weeks a client needs a fix before close of business. We will tell you which kind of week it is.
- You will be reviewing your own work against a design file, so precision matters more than speed early on.

How to apply

Send us:

1. A short cover letter. Tell us why this role interests you, and what you want to be good at in two years. Bonus points if it sounds short, sharp and genuine. We’re busy, and we hate AI slop.
2. Links to anything you have built. Personal projects, course projects and half-finished experiments all count. If you have a GitHub, include it.
3. And just for fun, if you could be any fictional character, who would you be and why?

If your portfolio is not perfect but you are keen and you learn fast, apply anyway. We mean that. Applications close Sept 25th 2026.
