About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technical Officer to play a key role in commissioning a new wastewater treatment process that is unique to Water Corporation. This 2-year acting opportunity is based at the Woodman Point Water Resource Recovery Facility. Working independently while collaborating closely with project, technical, and operations teams, you will ensure samples are processed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, delivering accurate, reliable, and timely results that support the successful implementation of this innovative process.

What You Can Expect With This Role
- Conduct sampling from the Woodman Point WRRF including newly installed Thermal Hydrolysis and ancillary Plants for analysis inhouse and to send to other internal/ external laboratories.
- Use established analytical techniques to test samples to a high standard of quality.
- Report your results using relevant reporting systems.
- Perform essential routine laboratory equipment calibrations and verifications.
- Maintain onsite laboratory equipment’s including consumables.
- Communicate any chemistry that does not meet operational targets or trends.
- Contribute to safety initiatives including team meetings, workplace inspection and hazard identification.
- Attend site meetings as required.
- You may also be required to perform lab based trials to assist in optimization of processes.
Your Skills And Experience For this role, we are looking for great talent with:
- Diploma or higher in relevant scientific field such as chemistry or laboratory technology/techniques OR significant (3+ years) experience in water, wastewater chemistry, or related laboratory & analytical services.
- Good computing skills and knowledge of Microsoft suite of applications.
- Able to work as part of a team as well as autonomously.
- Some flexibility with working hours.
- Understanding the importance of safety in a laboratory and on operational/construction sites.
