About the role
Vinova are working with a leading energy business seeking a Legal Counsel to join their Sydney team.
Your key internal stakeholders will include senior management as well as the investment, finance, commercial, project delivery and asset management teams.
Externally, you'll work with investors, banks, external law firms and other advisers, giving you exposure across both the operational and investment sides of the business.
Duties
- Draft and negotiate commercial agreements, sale and purchase agreements, operating agreements and construction contracts
- Advise senior stakeholders on corporate, commercial, regulatory, governance and contractual matters
- Identify legal and commercial risk across projects, transactions and wider business activities and recommend practical solutions
- Manage external legal advisers and represent the business in negotiations with investors, banks, counterparties and other external parties
Skills / experience
- Australian-qualified lawyer with a current practising certificate and admission in NSW
- Broad corporate and commercial legal experience gained either in-house or within private practice
- Experience across at least one of M&A;, banking & finance, financial services/funds management, construction/major projects or litigation
- Strong commercial judgement with the ability to manage multiple matters and advise senior stakeholders independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a practical, collaborative approach to legal advice
