The successful Support Worker will provide social support and community participation assistance, which may include:
- Providing companionship and social interaction.
- Supporting the client to participate in community activities.
- Accompanying the client to appointments, shopping and social outings.
- Assisting with transport and community access where required.
- Encouraging the client to participate in recreational activities and hobbies.
- Supporting the client to maintain independence and confidence.
- Assisting with general daily activities as required.
- Providing emotional and social support in a respectful and professional manner.
- Building a positive and trusting professional relationship with the client.
- Maintaining client privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
- Following the client's individual support requirements and Comfort Home Care policies.
- Reporting any concerns regarding the client's wellbeing to management.
About You We are looking for a Support Worker who is:
- Male, where this is a genuine occupational requirement due to the client's personal circumstances and support needs.
- Caring, patient and respectful.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Friendly and approachable.
- Comfortable working independently.
- Confident communicating with clients and families.
- Professional and able to maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Interested in supporting clients with community participation and social activities.
- Versatile and willing to accommodate the client's individual needs.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in disability support, aged care, community services or social support is preferred.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check, where applicable.
- Current National Police Check.
- Working With Children Check, where required.
- Current Australian driver's licence, if transport is required.
- Reliable and appropriately insured vehicle, if required for the role.
- Valid Australian working rights.
- Ability to provide required identification and compliance documentation during onboarding.
Desirable
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Ageing Support or Community Services.
- Previous experience providing social or community support.
- Experience supporting people with disability or older adults.
- Experience assisting clients with community access and appointments.
- Additional language skills are highly regarded.
