Primary objective

This role provides strategic leadership to the Medical Workforce Services Unit (MSU) within Royal Darwin and Palmerston

Hospitals (RDPH) where the teams provide a full range of administrative support related to the medical workforce of RDPH.

Key duties and responsibilities

1.



Lead strategic planning and manage the ongoing operation of the medical services workforce unit to ensure recruitment,

retention and support of an effective medical workforce within RDPH.
1. Provide a consultancy service to the RDPH Divisional Co-Directors and Heads of Departments on complex employment

matters and risks relating to medical practitioners and the broader medical workforce
- Oversee the provision of high-level secretariat functions including preparation of papers, research, reports and preparation of correspondence for numerous strategic committees

1. Lead and manage multiple diverse teams within in MSU in areas such as medical recruitment, medical education,

rostering, credentialing and medico legal in a complex and dynamic workplace
- Manage cost centres within work area in accordance with financial management and procurement policies and procedures
- Ensure that assessments, reports, statistics and other significant information is available as required for key stakeholders
- Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to prepare high-quality reports and

presentations, and build effective relationships with senior executives,



clinicians and government agencies.
- Proven strategic, analytical and conceptual skills, with the ability to interpret and implement complex business requirements in a agile environment with competing priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate with influence to resolve complex issues, implement change and maintain productive relationships
- Proven ability to work independently, develop solutions, manage competing priorities and meet critical deadlines.
- Proven leadership and management experience with demonstration of highly effective provision of services, programs and projects.

1. Extensive knowledge of medical workforce management, including recruitment, credentialing, employment, education,

professional development, medico-legal matters and relevant legislation and governance.

Desirable

1. Post graduate or tertiary qualification in health, public administration, business administration, public sector

management or similar
