Primary objective

Responsible for the overall management of the Professional Development and Training team providing robust team leadership, management, direction and advice in relation to the development, delivery, ongoing evaluation and continuous improvement of quality professional development programs for Department of Children and Families staff and stakeholders.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Leadership in management of training and curriculum materials to ensure training,



projects and services are delivered in

accordance with legislative requirements, national best practice models, policies and standard operating procedures.
- Manage the development and delivery of accredited and non-accredited Northern Territory wide training programs and contracts, supporting a variety of delivery methods, including face to face and online delivery.
- Facilitate delivery of training to internal workforce and external stakeholders to support continuous workforce development.

1. Build strong relationships across operational and enabling divisions to ensure timely and responsive delivery of training.
2. Support the Director in the day-to-day management of the Professional Development and Training team budget and

human resources, including staff performance, management and professional development.
1. Design and manage evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives for capability, learning and development

programs, materials and workforce.
- Prepare reports, Ministerial correspondence and briefings for senior management related to the work of the Branch.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. High-level, extensive knowledge and experience in the development and facilitation of professional development, policy





implementation training and adult learning, including experience in analysing training needs, planning, implementing and evaluating programs.
1. Demonstrated extensive experience in leading, managing and developing staff and delivering results in a climate of

change in a multidisciplinary human services workplace.
1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of relevant current legislation, policies, practice and trends in a human services

environment and how these impact on the development and delivery of training programs.
1. Highly developed interpersonal, consultation and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to work with internal

and external stakeholders in a cross-cultural environment to establish clear plans and timeframes for the implementation of multiple projects.
1. Demonstrated experience with managing multiple and complex projects through the application of project and change

management skills whilst meeting tight deadlines in a human services environment undergoing rapid change.
1. Demonstrated experience in financial and contract management.

Desirable

1. Formal qualification in Leadership, Management, Education, Training or other relevant discipline.
