We are seeking a commercially astute, results-driven Manager PDM Contracts to lead the contract management function within our Project Delivery Management (PDM) team.

Management (PDM) team is at the forefront of driving strategic initiatives and ensuring successful project outcomes. It’s not just what we do, but how we do it. We aim to protect and reduce impact to the sacred land and waterways of the Territory as we operate across a geographic area of 1.3 million square kilometres. We work within a range of diverse environmental conditions providing electricity transmission and distribution, as well as water and wastewater services throughout the region, including remote Aboriginal communities and outstations.
Your New Role: Manager PDM Contracts The Manager PDM Contracts Lead PDM’s contract management function and team, providing strategic commercial advice and overseeing contracts across the procurement and project delivery lifecycle to minimise risk, ensure compliance and deliver value-for-money outcomes.
You will provide strategic advice on negotiations, agreements, commercial terms,
risk assessments and dispute resolution, while establishing consistent processes for contract creation, execution, monitoring, start-up and close-out. Working closely with project teams, Category Managers, senior leaders and subject matter experts, you will protect Power and Water's commercial interests, support effective decision-making and drive value-for-money outcomes.
We are looking for an experienced people leader with a strong background in contract management or complex operational environments. The ideal candidate can lead a high-performing team, analyse contractual and commercial options, manage risk and compliance, communicate confidently with senior decision-makers and build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Lead and develop a high-performing contracts team through effective workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, training, mentoring and succession planning.
- Manage the contractual aspects of PDM projects and programs across pre-procurement, procurement and delivery, including coordination of advisers, internal divisions, agencies and subject matter experts.
- Lead contract negotiations and comprehensive options analysis to minimise risk and achieve cost-effective, commercially sound outcomes for Power and Water.
- Provide specialised contract management expertise and strategic advice on agreements, commercial terms, risk assessments, disputes and project risk management.
- Coordinate submissions and delegate approvals for tendering, contract awards, variations and changes to project scope.
- Lead the development, assessment, negotiation, approval and execution of agreements between Power and Water and third parties.
- Establish and maintain consistent contract administration plans, systems and procedures covering contract creation, negotiation, execution, monitoring, start-up and close-out.
- Monitor contract budgets, performance and compliance,
identify risks and mitigation strategies with Category Managers, and provide timely advice to senior management on risks, issues and decisions.
What You Will Bring to the Team
- A minimum of five years' industry experience in contract management or an operational-based role.
- Demonstrated experience managing people in large, high-volume operations, including organisational and workforce planning.
- Extensive experience in contract, stakeholder and customer management, including negotiation, risk management, dispute resolution and compliance.
- An AQF Certificate III or equivalent competencies in an electrical trade, construction or a related trade, supported by relevant knowledge and experience.
- Excellent computer literacy, including advanced Microsoft Office skills and the ability to learn new systems and tools quickly.
- Solid leadership, commercial, analytical and stakeholder-management capability. A Law or Commerce degree, PMP or PRINCE2 certification, management systems experience, and experience with financial reporting and budgeting will be highly regarded.
