The opportunity

We are working with a well-established food manufacturing business looking to appoint an experienced Manufacturing Manager to lead the day-to-day manufacturing operation of its chocolate facility in Western Sydney.

This is a hands-on manufacturing role with responsibility across production, people, safety, quality, productivity and continuous improvement. You will work closely with the frontline leadership team across a three-shift operation, creating greater consistency, accountability and performance across the manufacturing function.

The business has an experienced and stable workforce and a positive culture. The opportunity is not about coming in and changing everything. It is about understanding what is already working, developing the capability of the team and creating a more structured and predictable manufacturing operation.

Improving manufacturing performance A key focus will be improving production efficiency, labour productivity, waste, throughput and manufacturing cost, whilst maintaining high standards of food safety and product quality.

There is a meaningful improvement programme already underway, including investment in automation, production processes and technology. The Manufacturing Manager will play an important role in taking these initiatives from implementation through to sustained improvements on the factory floor.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable using production data to understand where the opportunities are, but who also enjoys getting onto the floor and working with people to solve problems.



You will bring a practical approach to continuous improvement and have experience creating better manufacturing discipline without overcomplicating things.

You will need to be comfortable coaching, delegating and holding people accountable. The right person will set high standards whilst maintaining a respectful and positive working environment. We are not looking for a command and control manager, nor someone who wants to solve every problem themselves.

Safety and quality will be central to the role. You will work closely with the relevant specialist teams, whilst taking explicit operational ownership for the standards delivered across manufacturing. The expectation is that safety, food quality and operational performance are owned by the whole manufacturing team.

What we're looking for

We would consider experienced Manufacturing Managers, Production Managers, Factory Managers and Operations Managers from chocolate, confectionery, bakery, dairy, beverages, fresh food or other high-volume food manufacturing environments.

Chocolate or confectionery experience would be advantageous, particularly where you have worked around automated production, processing, packaging and high-volume manufacturing. However, we are more interested in your ability to lead people, improve manufacturing performance and operate effectively in a structured food manufacturing environment.

You will ideally have experience in continuous improvement, production planning, labour management, waste reduction and manufacturing efficiency. More importantly, you will have a track record of taking an operation forward, developing frontline leaders and delivering measurable improvements.
