We are seeking a trade-qualified Mechanic to join our Fleet team. In this hands-on role, you will perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on Council's diverse fleet of vehicles, trucks and plant equipment. Working both in the workshop and in the field, you will help ensure fleet reliability, safety and operational availability while supporting a collaborative and customer-focused team environment
What Your Day Will Look Like
- Perform maintenance, servicing and repairs on Council vehicles, trucks and plant equipment
- Diagnose faults and identify mechanical issues to minimise fleet downtime
- Complete workshop and field-based maintenance activities safely and efficiently
- Maintain accurate work records using Council's maintenance management systems
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to team planning activities
- Assist with mentoring apprentices and supporting team members where required

- Recognised Mechanical Trade Certificate (AQF Level III)
- Valid Queensland C Class Driver Licence
- General Construction Induction (White Card)
- Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing plant, trucks and heavy equipment
- Skills in fitting, welding and machining
- Strong understanding of WHS requirements and safe work practices
- Ability to use work management systems and complete documentation accurately
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
What’s Nice To Have
- Valid HR Licence recognised in Queensland
- Experience providing guidance and support to apprentices or team members
- Experience working within fleet maintenance or local government environments
