We are seeking a Mechanic to join our team and they will play a critical role ensuring a range of plant and fleet is available to maintain our public roads and public spaces.
Position Overview An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified Mechanic to join the Council Depot team. Working closely with the Coordinator Plant and Fleet,
you will undertake a diverse range of maintenance and servicing activities across Council’s plant and fleet assets. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering safe, timely and cost-effective maintenance and repairs to ensure the reliability and availability of plant and equipment supporting our Civil and Open Space teams.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the position include:
- Sustaining the operational integrity of Council’s plant and equipment
- Offer guidance and assistance to plant operators regarding proper maintenance and operating protocols
- Working safely and effectively to achieve goals in line with planned fleet maintenance schedules
About You To be successful in this role you will have:
- Trade qualification (Motor Mechanic)
- HR driver’s licence
- Experience maintaining motors, hydraulic systems, transmission and auto electrical systems
- Experience diagnosing faults

The position is offered as a full-time, fixed term contract, concluding 26 April 2027, in accordance with the Local Government Employees Award and Council’s current Enterprise Agreement within an annual salary range of $85,840.04 to $87,758.84 dependent upon skills, knowledge and experience.
