About the role

Working closely with sales, estimating, engineering, manufacturing and project teams, you will be responsible for developing 3D models and detailed drawings for both structural steel projects and manufactured equipment. This is a hands-on design role suited to someone who enjoys taking a concept and developing it into a practical, manufacture-ready 3D design.

Key responsibilities

- 3D modelling and detailing of agricultural, industrial and commercial sheds
- Structural steel frames, portals, platforms, stairs, walkways and support structures
- Development of concepts into practical, manufacture-ready designs
- Detailed fabrication and workshop drawings
- General arrangement drawings, plans, elevations and sections
- Sheet metal design and development
- Preparation of DXF and laser-cutting files
- Preparation of Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Design of components for efficient fabrication, welding and assembly




- Working with external engineers to incorporate structural calculations and engineering requirements into final designs

About you

- Experience in mechanical, structural or fabrication design/drafting
- Strong 3D CAD capability
- Experience designing and detailing structural steel buildings or sheds
- Experience designing fabricated mechanical equipment and assemblies
- Robust understanding of steel fabrication, welding, sheet metal and manufacturing processes
- Experience producing detailed workshop and fabrication drawings
- Experience with BOMs, DXF files and manufacturing documentation
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work from a concept or basic scope and develop a complete design
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
