At our South Side Cancer Care Centre in Miranda, we are seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Medical Receptionist to join our team in a permanent part time position, working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (22.5 hours per week).

This is an opportunity to join a passionate and collaborative team committed to providing high-quality cancer care to patients and the local community.

As a Medical Receptionist, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming and supportive experience for our patients while ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the Centre. The role reports directly to the Centre Manager.

What’s Involved

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual. Previous experience in a medical or oncology setting is highly regarded. In this collaborative environment, your responsibilities will include:

- Patient liaison: Welcoming patients, answering telephone enquiries, managing correspondence and scheduling appointments.
- Patient administration: Processing billing, completing accurate data entry and maintaining patient records using our electronic medical record systems.
- Liaising with hospitals, specialists and allied health professionals.
- Supporting doctors and nurses and assisting allied health staff in delivering patient care.
- Providing a high level of customer service and ensuring patients feel welcomed, supported and well cared for throughout their experience with us.

What You Bring

- Previous experience in a medical practice, hospital or oncology setting is highly regarded.
- Experience with Medicare, DVA and Private Health Insurance.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to confidently use multiple software systems, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
- The ability to build and maintain positive relationships with patients and key stakeholders.
