About The Role
n
Youth Justice Services is responsible for the safety, security and rehabilitation of young people in both community and custody. Its core objective is to reduce reoffending among young people through services to divert young people away from the criminal justice system; programs and services for young people on orders in the community; and programs and services in custody.
n
Key Responsibilities Include
n
n
- Leading complex projects and programs that support the delivery of YJS strategic priorities, ensuring outcomes are achieved within agreed timeframes and budgets.
n
- Undertaking high-level research, environmental scanning and analysis to inform policy, program and service development for young people across pre-custody, custody and post-custody settings.
n
- Building productive relationships and consulting with internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that improve outcomes for young people in the justice system.
n
- Supports the operations of the Youth Justice Services Branch by: assisting staff as required; coaching and mentoring Senior Project and Project Officers to develop and enhance their capabilities; actively participating in the formulation and achievement of objectives, strategies and priorities that support the effective functioning of the Directorate.

- Assists the Director by ensuring that Directorate operational priorities are achieved through effectively managing business activities. This extends to financial management (including preparing budget submissions), identifying and managing risks,
managing contracts, human resources and other administrative functions as required.

- Other duties as required in accordance with strategic objectives, business plans, local workload priorities and performance management plans.

Suitability Requirements

Through the recruitment process, we will be looking for a candidate who can demonstrate skills, experience and attributes in relation to the Essential Selection Criteria listed in the attached Job Description Form.

Eligibility

To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.
n
In accordance with the National Child Safety Principles, people who work directly with children and young people, you must have a current Working with Children Check or be able to successfully apply for one to be eligible for appointment to this position.
