Role Description The Network Engineer will work in a part-time, remote capacity, responsible for maintaining and optimizing SOMAMED CON NAV’s network infrastructure that supports shipping, marine, and logistics operations. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring network performance, configuring and managing network devices, and implementing secure connectivity for remote offices and users. The role involves diagnosing and resolving network issues, updating documentation, and applying best practices for network security and reliability.

The Network

Engineer will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external service providers to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable network environments. The position requires proactive maintenance, participation in improvement initiatives, and periodic support during planned changes or incidents.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess skills in Network Administration and Network Engineering to manage, configure, and support enterprise network environments.




- Candidates should possess skills in Network Design to plan and optimize network topology, capacity, and connectivity for distributed operations.
- Candidates should possess skills in Network Security to implement and maintain firewalls, VPNs, access controls, and security policies.
- Candidates should possess skills in Troubleshooting to diagnose, analyze, and resolve network performance and connectivity issues efficiently.
- Relevant experience with routers, switches, firewalls, VPN technologies, and common network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
- Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
- Experience supporting networks in logistics, maritime, or similar operational environments is an advantage.
- Preferred education: degree or certification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+).
