Role Description This part time remote role combines responsibilities of a Network Engineer and Systems Administrator to support the technology infrastructure that underpins Green Light Solar’s operations. The individual in this role will design, configure, and maintain network systems, including routers, switches, and firewalls, to ensure secure and reliable connectivity for distributed teams and project sites.
Day-to-day tasks include monitoring network performance, diagnosing and resolving connectivity and system issues, and performing routine maintenance and updates. The role also involves implementing network security best practices, managing user access, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to support solar project management tools and related IT services. The candidate will document configurations, maintain diagrams and inventories, and recommend improvements to enhance system stability and security.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Network Administration and Network Engineering to manage, configure,
and support company networks.
- Experience with Network Design to plan scalable, reliable, and secure architectures for remote and distributed environments.
- Proficiency in Troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve network and system issues efficiently.
- Knowledge of Network Security practices to protect data, systems, and remote connections.
- Experience with systems administration for common operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux) and user account management.
- Familiarity with VPNs, firewalls, cloud-based services, and remote monitoring tools.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote, part-time setting.
- Relevant certification (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or similar) or equivalent practical experience.
- Prior experience in renewable energy, construction, or field services environments is a plus.
