Evoke Neurophysiology is a growing provider of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) services across Melbourne. We work closely with leading surgeons and hospital teams to deliver high-quality, real-time neurophysiological monitoring that supports patient safety and surgical outcomes.
We are seeking a Neurophysiology Scientist to join our team in a hands-on, clinically focused role across a variety of complex surgical cases. Its monitoring services are designed to be responsive, precise, and dependable, ensuring the best outcomes for every patient.
Role Description
This is a dynamic theatre-based role involving the delivery of intraoperative neurophysiology monitoring across neurosurgical, spinal, vascular and related procedures.
You will work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre staff, providing real-time interpretation and communication of neurophysiological data to support intraoperative decision-making by surgical teams.
The role requires flexibility, independence, excellent communication skills and a high level of clinical responsibility.
Key responsibilities
- Perform intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) across a range of neurophysiological modalities.
- Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot monitoring equipment in the operating theatre
- Apply electrodes accurately to optimise recording and stimulation parameters
- Interpret and communicate real-time waveform changes to the surgical team
- Develop and discuss monitoring strategies pre-operatively with surgeons and anaesthetists
- Select appropriate monitoring modalities based on procedure specific surgical risk and patient anatomy
- Maintain sterile technique and adhere to hospital protocols at all times
- Complete detailed post-operative reports with analysis of findings
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure confidentiality of patient data
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety checks
Canditates Qualifications and traits
- Degree in Neurophysiology, Neuroscience, biomedicine or a related field
- Experience in intraoperative neurophysiology monitoring (IONM) will be highly regarded but not essential
- Experience in clinical neurophysiology or a related field is advantageous
- Strong knowledge of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and neuropharmacology
- Ability to work independently in high-pressure surgical environments
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey critical information clearly
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre staff
- High level of organisation, attention to detail, and accountability
- Adaptability to evolving surgical techniques and technologies
- Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous learning and clinical development
Working requirements
- Flexible availability, including early starts, after-hours, and weekend on call rotations
- Ability to travel between hospitals across Melbourne
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
- Ability to meet hospital credentialing requirements (e.g. police check, WWCC)
