Freelance Registered Nurse / Research Nurse - Melbourne

About the opportunity

n

ProPharma is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide ad hoc home-visit support for a clinical trial in the Werribee / Point Cook area of Western Melbourne.

n

We are advertising across the wider Melbourne area and welcome applications from nurses who are comfortable travelling to the Werribee / Point Cook area for the required patient visits.

n

This is a freelance, ad hoc opportunity rather than a permanent or fixed-hours role. It is designed to be flexible and can be undertaken alongside your existing nursing role, freelance work or other clinical research projects.

n

The first patient home visit is currently targeted for 8 September 2026, with additional visits potentially available according to study and patient requirements.

What you will be doing

n

n
- Conducting scheduled clinical trial visits in the patient's home
n
- Performing venipuncture and collecting blood samples
n
- Processing blood samples according to study requirements
n
- Centrifuging samples where required
n
- Completing blood requisition forms and study documentation
n
- Following study-specific procedures and instructions
n
- Ensuring accurate and compliant handling of samples and documentation
n

What we are looking for

n

n
- Registered Nurse with current Australian registration
n
- Strong,



confident and recent venipuncture / blood collection experience
n
- Comfortable working independently in a patient home environment
n
- Strong attention to detail
n
- Able to follow clinical and study-specific procedures
n
- Willing and able to travel to the Werribee / Point Cook area for patient visits
n
- Able to work on a freelance / contractor basis
n

Highly desirable:

n

n
- Clinical research or research nursing experience
n
- Research Nurse or Research Nurse Coordinator experience
n
- Clinical trial experience
n
- Experience processing and centrifuging blood samples
n
- Experience completing blood requisition forms
n
- Experience within a Phase I unit, clinical trials unit, research site or hospital research team
n
- Advertised location: Melbourne, VIC
n
- Patient visit location: Werribee / Point Cook area, Western Melbourne
n
- Engagement: Freelance / independent contractor
n
- Initial targeted visit: 8 September 2026
n
- Hours: No fixed weekly hours or guaranteed ongoing volume
n
- Flexibility: Can be undertaken alongside other employment, nursing work, freelance assignments or clinical research projects

You do not need to be looking for a current permanent position. This opportunity may suit an experienced nurse who would simply like to add occasional, flexible clinical trial assignments alongside their existing work.
