THE OPPORTUNITY
As the Performance Marketing Team Lead at Evocative Media, you’ll lead a pod of paid media specialists across both paid social and paid search.
Reporting to our Head of Digital, you’ll be responsible for the strategy, performance, delivery and client relationships across your pod. You’ll lead and develop a team of three to four specialists while remaining close enough to the accounts to challenge decisions, identify opportunities and maintain a consistently high standard of work.
This role requires genuine cross-channel experience. You must be highly experienced across both paid social and paid search, in particular Meta and Google Ads. This is not a role for someone who has specialised in one channel and relied on others to lead the other.
The pod manages ecommerce accounts of varying sizes and complexity, including brands investing $500K+ per month across paid media.
You’ll also have direct support from an Ad Builder, Project Manager and our in-house Copy and Creative teams, giving you the structure and resources to lead the pod effectively.
This is an opportunity to lead talented specialists, work with some of Australia’s most recognised ecommerce brands and have real influence over the continued development of our Performance department.

WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT
- This is not a paid-social-only or paid-search-only leadership role. You must be capable of leading strategy and performance across both
- This is not a pure people-management position. You’ll need to remain technically close to the accounts and confidently challenge strategy and execution
- This is not a first step into leadership. You’ll be responsible for developing specialists, managing performance and providing clear direction
- This is not a behind-the-scenes role. You’ll lead major client relationships and be expected to handle difficult conversations with confidence
- This is not a slow-paced environment. You’ll need to prioritise effectively, remain composed under pressure and provide clarity when the team needs it most
THE KIND OF PERSON WE’RE LOOKING FOR We’re looking for a genuinely good human who is an exceptional performance marketer and a strong people leader.
Someone who cares about their clients,
their team and the quality of the work being delivered. Someone who is loyal, dependable and steady under pressure.
You’ll set clear expectations, give honest feedback and hold a high standard without creating fear or unnecessary pressure within the team. When something goes wrong, you’ll take responsibility, establish the facts and focus on the solution.
Technical ability and leadership experience are essential, but character matters just as much.
Above all else, we’re looking for someone we can trust. Someone who does what they say they’ll do, raises issues early and wants to help build an exceptional team.
THE ENVIRONMENT
We’re a high-performing agency working with established brands, substantial budgets and ambitious growth targets. The work can be demanding, and there will be pressure.
As the Team Lead, you’ll often be the person your specialists and clients turn to when performance changes, priorities compete or a difficult decision needs to be made.
We don’t believe pressure should be constant or carried alone. You’ll have the support of our Head of Digital, Project Manager and wider leadership team. We do expect you to communicate early, raise risks, reset expectations where necessary and remain calm and solutions-focused when things become challenging.
If you enjoy responsibility, care deeply about developing people and want to lead work at this level, you’ll thrive here.
WHAT YOU’LL RECEIVE
- A competitive salary based on your experience
- Full-time work-from-home flexibility
- A laptop, monitor and equipment for your home setup
- The opportunity to lead a talented team working across high-calibre ecommerce accounts
- Direct support and mentorship from our Head of Digital and agency leadership
- Genuine influence over the structure, standards and future of our Performance department
- Ongoing technical, leadership and professional development
- Clear expectations, regular feedback and support
- Summer Fridays, with half days during summer
- Interstate travel to our eCommerce Growth Summit and other industry events
- Birthday leave
- An annual company retreat
- A direct, supportive and no-nonsense working culture
You must reside in Australia and be available to work within the AEST/AEDT time zone.
